“There’s a secret that real writers know that wannabe writers don’t, and the secret is this: It’s not the writing part that’s hard. What’s hard is sitting down to write.

What keeps us from sitting down is Resistance.”

Writing and Re-writing: Resolutions

You know, I’m in a pretty unique position, I think.

My husband doesn’t care if I work or not because his salary can currently take care of both of us.  For now, anyway.  And, strangely enough, this has been killing me because I want my own money and to not have to beg him for things and stuff and stuff and things.  So I got a freelance writing position at Demand Studios.  Yeah, the pay is not great, but for some extra cash, it’s not bad.

Then I started looking for ANOTHER freelancing position because I wanted something that I could rely on, that I could put on my resume and work my way up to freelancing for other positions and stuff like that.  The problem was: once I had to do it, I didn’t want to.  I found myself making excuses not to and really just not liking what I was doing.

(The fact that I didn’t really trust the person who I worked for didn’t help matters either.  He felt a bit creepy.)

So, I’ve finally made up my mind.

I have so many books on my bookshelves that I haven’t read.  I have so many novels in my head (well, three anyway) that I want to write.

It’s time for me to take the plunge and to simply dedicate myself to writing the books that I want to write and to reading the books that I already have.  Now that’s not to say that I’m not going to buy more books occasionally, but I really need to focus on getting books onto paper, revised and into publisher’s hands.  If I want some extra money occasionally, I can write a couple articles for Demand Studios and be done with it.

So, with New Year’s coming up on us shortly, I’m working on my New Year’s Resolutions and Goals.

Hopefully, by the end of 2010, we’ll see a lot of them completed :)
