Horses

hippotherapy_colorFor the last couple of years, my daughter has been in hippotherapy.  And, quite frankly, I attribute her beginning to speak to the hippotherapy program at Pikes Peak Therapeutic Riding Center and the wonderful therapists and volunteers they have working with the children and horses.

There is just SOMETHING about these big beautiful animals, however, that tells me I’m home.   In December of last year, I was able to ride a friend’s horse, a Thoroughbred named Sable, and, while I learned a LOT and was still on a lunge line, it felt so completely normal to be on her back.   Sure, I almost toppled over a few times while trotting — for the five feet I could keep myself from falling.  And there’s a LOT of riding information — and practice — that I need to learn.

But there’s nothing else I want to do more.  With the exception of writing, naturally.
